We’ve all made mistakes we wish we hadn’t; left our wallets somewhere or missed out on that last minute
eBay bargain, but I’m pretty confident in saying no-one reading this will have made a mistake worth just
under $35bn.

How is this possible? Well it’s come to light in the last few days that the little-known third founder of Apple,
Ronald Wayne, sold his 10% share in the company for the grand sum of $800. Wayne’s forgotten share in
the tech goliath is now worth £35bn, 44 million times more than it was in 1976.

Perhaps the most unfortunate man in business history doesn’t view this as bad decision though by saying
he did the right thing leaving Apple! ‘If I’d stayed with them, I’d have ended up the richest man in the
cemetery,’ he said, and if he can keep upbeat then nobody has an excuse to feel down!
